Shortly after his out-of-state birth in 1975, Tyson and his family made their home in Marshfield, Wisconsin. After graduating from Columbus High School in 1994, he attended Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. While at Saint Olaf, he studied abroad briefly in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and for an entire academic year in the United Kingdom at Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford. Tyson graduated from Saint Olaf in 1998 with double majors in philosophy and English. Pursuing an abiding interest in philosophy, he earned his Master of Arts degree in the subject from Marquette University in 2001. That same year, Tyson met his current wife, Theresa, and with her eventually decided to study law at William Mitchell College of Law, Saint Paul, Minnesota. During his tenure there, Tyson participated in the Rosalie E. Wahl Moot Court Competition, finishing second with his teammate before a panel of judges which included members of Minnesota's highest court. He also served for one year on the William Mitchell Law Review. Tyson graduated with his Juris Doctor in May, 2007.

Tyson views his practice of law as a relational discipline. He strives to build a culture of trust and openness with his clients, believing that great results depend on attorney-client relationships which are sustainable beyond near-term office consultations. He believes the services he offers extend well beyond discrete series of transactions to ongoing additions of value to his clients' dynamic situations.

Beyond his professional activities, Tyson remains busy attending to a growing family, new home, and a new community. He and his family are members of Saint Therese Parish, Rothschild, Wisconsin, and Tyson was recently elected Deputy Grand Knight of local Knights of Columbus Council 4628. When he can arrange for an extended quiet moment to himself - of late, assuredly not a given - Tyson will read a bit of Saint Augustine, Kierkegaard, or other philosophy needling him.
