OPENING

Good Afternoon!

Ladies and gentlemen; today _______GROOM and _______BRIDE have come together to express their mutual love, their devotion and their desire to unite in marriage. They ask all of you - their family and friends - to participate in their happiness and joy. Further, they ask of all of you to participate in their union, from today until, well - forever!

Until recently you all have been merely observers to _______GROOM and _______BRIDE'S growing friendship and their embracing love. Today you have the privilege - no, the honor - to participate in _______BRIDE'S and _______GROOM'S commitment to each other in marriage. And in return, this couple asks all of you to participate in their marriage as observers and supporters.

Marriage is a promise made in the hearts of two people who love each other. For those of us who have been married a long time we already know that within its circle of love marriage encompasses all of life's most important relationships. A wife and a husband are each other's lover, teacher, listener, critic but most of all - you are each other's Best Friend.

"BEST FRIEND?"

Marrying your Best Friend is not creepy, strange or something taboo as the movies and TV suggest. They are wrong! Marrying your Best Friend is as breath-taking as winning the gold medal. Marrying your Best Friend is so easy, so magical and so serene that today will fly by and tomorrow will be here before you know it. You both will look back in time to this day and the days following with affection and say to yourselves, "I can't believe we've been married this long."

Being each other's Best Friend entails super human strengths of acceptance, humility, forgiveness, trust and devotion to each other. Your Best Friend will provide energy for you to live your life fully, will give you more affection than a hundred puppies and will be your crutch when you are down, sick and tired. Your spouse's presence is not necessary for their memory can cause you to do things wondrous and great.
